Now I want that AU, where Ezra and Kanan end up on Tatoonie, and meet the Lars, & Luke. Beru talks Kanan, and Owen, into letting the Lars keep Ezra.
Next follows a bunch of Ezra recovering from childhood trauma, and learning that the Lars will actually feed him, provide schooling, and not exploit him for labor.
The Lars break him of his stealing habits. Ezra teaches Luke how to use his Force abilities.
Ezra has a bit of a problem with this.
Ezra is waiting for the other shoe to drop, trying to figure out why the Lars took him in.
Ezra is hoarding food under his bed. Beru finds his food stash while cleaning. She tells Owen. Owen picks up a portable cooling unit next market trip. They give him the cooler so his food stash won't attract bugs or whomp rats.
This is what starts his screaming breakdown. Ezra expected to be punished for hoarding food.
He has a screaming crying breakdown, yelling at Owen and Beru, "What do you want with/ from me!?!?!" And Luke is completely confused.
(At some later point Ezra and Luke meet Kenobi. Luke hears the bit about Darth Vader betraying Anakin Skywalker. )
Of course Ezra wants to join the Alliance when he turns legal. Owen says "no", but Ezra is going to leave anyway.
Luke decides to go along with Ezra. At some point he tells Ezra that if he meets Vader, he is going to say to him, "You killed my father!"
Ezra, "No, he's killed lots of parents. You'll have to be specific. "
So when Luke finally does meet Vader he says, "I am Luke Skywalker, son of Anakin, grandson of Shmi. You killed my father! Prepare to die!"
Vader has a bit of a meltdown. But he manages to trap Luke in an elevator with him. Vader tells him, "I did not kill your father. I am your father." Luke has a big meltdown, but he's trapped in an elevator with Vader. No lost hands or such.
(I was thinking this might all be occurring on Jedha or Scarif.) Vader is dragging a cuffed, slightly weepy, Luke around. The other Imperials are looking at this rebel funny. But Vader has claimed him, so...
I had this image of a cuffed, bedraggled Luke on a shuttle, surrounded by Imperials, all staring at him curiously. But Vader has taken charge of this rebel, so no one is saying anything to Vader about it.
Vader has Ezra, and some of the other rebels rounded up, and put In holding, because they are friends with Luke.
