I tend to post more on Instagram and Facebook more.

I also went and started a Patreon, so if anyone wants any art from me...

Still following "No Longer Quivering" and "Love, Joy, Feminism". I've discovered "Fundie Fridays" on YouTube. "Fundy Fridays" (I can't remember how she spells it right now) is the product of Jenna, who reviews fundamentalist Christianity. It's weirdly addictive.

I think some of that reading (stuff about raising up your children as 'soldiers' to "take back America for Jesus") is why I had a weird dream.... about some Quiverfulls gone extremist. The dream wasn't really about the 'war'.

I was speculating on just how much damage such extremist could do. While they would eventually end up with Hellfire missiles up their asses (seriously, assault rifles against Apache helicopters would NOT work.) The amount of damage they could possibly do before their final showdown could end up being pretty extreme.

Anyway... on to the dream....

The dream was more about the aftermath of this uprising.

This dream really dealt with more the aftermath, not the actual 'war'.

Some 40 years ago, Quiverfull Evangelical Christians secluded themselves and their families on a sort of doomsday prepper acreage grounds complex. They were ignored by the rest of 'secular' society, who was okay with these fundies going off somewhere away from regular society.

What these QFers were really doing, was priming their kids and grandkids to 'take back' the country for the Lord, with violent means. They encouraged the women in the enclave to have as many children as possible towards this war. They also kidnapped some kids, to add to their Quiverfull of Arrows. They relentlessly trained their children in handling heavy arms. The men of this group bought as many assault weapons as they could, even RPGs, and explosive materials.

(I think in the "kidnapping some kids" that the Grandson's father was one of those kidnapped kids, and his father's relatives come to invite him to live with them.)

Then one day they decided it was time to wage war for Our Lord, and they went out attacking those evil liberal secularists. It was a brutal short battle. Agent Graves was a young man then. When Agent Graves was a probie, one of the children sent out to bomb things, came him in tears, whispering "I don't wanna' die."

Finally, government agents ended up storming the compound, which was loaded with booby traps. There were kids who died who were expected (by their parents) to fight back.

The final members left ended up retaliating by a massive suicide bombing campaign. One such spot was a park, where busloads of secular kids were going off to camp. There's a memorial in an old pay phone spot now. That's where Agent Graves was injured. It's why he always wears a scarf or cravat around his neck. He was seriously injured, almost died, several of his teammates died. I think he had an artificial voice box in the dream.

Agent Graves now has some PTS, and it's why he relies on two other agents in this, plus the three junior agents. He's not 'field-worthy' anymore, and he knows it.

Story dream started with a young man pushing his aging grandmother in her wheelchair. Grandson (Peter) and Grandma, GM aka Mother Hutch by LEOs (law enforcement officials) live a very poor life. They live with different people, and Mother Hutch has moved around quite a bit.

Unknown to GS, GM was a big figure in their Fundamentalist Army. She urged her kids into 'battle' or bombing squads, and keeps jump drives with information hidden in her cane. (That she sometimes tries to use to hit GS with.)

There's a bit scene where they are only allowed to stay with one woman and her family for a few weeks. Woman tells GM that she has a life now, and she doesn't want any LEOs coming to her doorstep. She was one of the children who was sent out to bomb things, who took the opportunity to drop her bomb and run away. (Story doesn't say how GM found her.) So those around her have no idea of her past. Mama Hutch calls her a Jezebel and a Judas.

They ended up staying in a slum-ish area, with little self built homes.

The next morning GS watches enviously as a bus arrives early to pick up the kids from the slums and take them to schools. GM got a bit of money from the Escapee, and she and GS go to the market.

Unknown to them, they are seen, and watched by Agent Graves, who is staring at GM, because he cannot believe she's still alive. He recognizes her. He was originally going to go lunch at the market, but hid and followed GM and GS. GM starts quietly snapping at GS because she's pretty sure they're being followed. GS yells at her, "No one is following us, grandma!" She tries to whack him with her cane, but he takes it away from her. She snaps more at him, and he slowly gives GS her cane back.

They leave the market......

When Agent Graves gets back to HQ, he talks to another Special Agent similar in rank, and one above him. They review the footage of the market, and Graves points out the young man and old woman. (Possible name Alistair Graves? Another special agent is Sharma (something Indian?))

Later, when notification comes up that the young man is revisiting the market alone, Graves goes to check up on him. He's curious as to whether the boy is as brainwashed as some of the previous child combatants were, or not, or if he's a stolen child.

So the GS is staring longingly at some oranges, Graves buys some, and turns around to hand one to GS. GS insists he's fine. Graves points out that he's underweight. Graves asks GS about his school, because he should be getting fed at school. GS admits that he doesn't go to school anymore, he had to drop out to take care of his grandma.

Graves invites Gs to lunch, GS says he doesn't want to worry GM. Graves suggests calling GM, but GS doesn't have a cell phone. Graves mentions that in his day there used to be payphones that people used. GS has never seen a pay phone. Graves mentions the spot near the market square where there is an empty phone hutch that used to be a pay phone. It's now filled with artificial flowers. holo photo cubes, and mementos.

GS, "Oh, the shrine to the war soldiers?"
Graves pauses, blinks rapidly.
GS, awkwardly. "That's what my Grandma said it was."
Graves, with sad smile, "Yeah, I guess you could call it that."

GS ends up accepting Graves' invitation to lunch. Graves gets mostly vegetables, the GS wants a hamburger, but hasn't had meat in a long time. So Graves recommends the veggie burger, if the boy isn't allergic to grains. (He explains to GS that it's possible to have trouble digesting meat if one hasn't had it in a long time.) Graves later pushes his potatoes towards GS, because the boy really devours the meal. Though he wishes he could take some to his GM. His grandma doesn't like him associating with 'outsiders'.

Graves finds GS to be very outgoing, despite his GM's attitude. The boy hasn't been homeschooled much, and has attended public school most of his life. He dropped out in middle school. When Graves asks him about virtual classes, GS says that they can't afford the uplink, and since they live with others, they can't pay for the interwebs.

Graves meets the boy every day for lunch. He also enlists the help of some junior agents-in-training to befriend the boy, learn more about the kid, and what his Grandmother might have planned.

Like how GM is very very attached to her cane. Graves is sure the cane needs to be examined. He also asks another Special Agent about using the youngest looking recruits in the academy. (Hence the junior agents sent out to befriend Grandson.)

Which leads to Graves briefing the young agents on the extremists. Slight scene where Graves goes quiet remembering the storming of the extremists compound- there was a child who died on a blanket. She'd been in reach of an open door, but hadn't run due to fear of being beaten.

If I write this out, I think I want to do this as 'two' books, one from the POV of the teenaged grandson, and one from the POV of the head Agent Graves. (What do you think of Idris Elba as Agent Graves?)

Anyhow......

Re-edited, because I should not be posting stuff at 1:00 AM when I should be asleep.
